4+ Months Post Op - An Exciting Date

It's been a while since I've posted about my recovery. Not a whole lot has changed in the last 2 months however I do have exciting news - I have a date for when my braces will be removed!

First the boring stuff. My bite has been coming along quite nicely the last 2 months. My front teeth line up perfectly now. The elastics that didn't seem like they were doing their job actually did something useful and I also had a couple of small gaps in my lower front teeth which have been closed off now. The last thing remaining is to make my upper and lower molars touch. The trusty elastics are in place so we'll just have to watch and wait.

Knowing all of that, my orthodontist felt comfortable in giving me a de-bracing date. And the much anticipated day is... November 26th!!! I think I'll book a hygiene appointment a few days after that so I'll have a shiny new smile to sport before Christmas rolls around. Christmas will be a little brighter this year!

Upcoming milestones:
Oct 17 - Visit orthodontist
Nov 26 - Braces come off

  1. Hey you! So I have my next ortho appointment on Oct 18th and we are supposed to be looking at a debracing date on that appointment. If all goes as planned I should have my braces off by the beginning of November sometime. I have self-ligating brackets so my appointments are only every 8 weeks, so long space in between. Yes we are still tweaking a bit, but everything is touching very well and the ortho told me at my last visit that he is seriously running out of stuff to do to my teeth. Things feel pretty lined up and "ON" now so hopefully it will go quickly now and they will be off soon!

I will post an update on the 18th once I see him.

  2. That's pretty exciting news. Running out of things to do is definitely a very good sign. Good luck for the 18th!

  4. Hi Roopak,

At the end of January I am having the same surgery you had and I am freaking out. I get sick with just the thought of my jaw being broken and screwed back together. I'm in financial sales and worried about the lenght of time it takes to recover. Being in sales, I talk for a living. From your pictures, it doesn't seem like you bruised much. How long should I expect to be out of work, considering what I do for a living? How much will I bruise. Was there a lot of pain? I need advise... i'm freaking out!

    Thanks,

    Georgette
